Once upon a time, I lived in a Little Black Mold Box.

The mold wasn’t visible, but one day I peeled wallpaper back in the living room — all black on the back.

Water from the property drained under the house, which meant standing water underneath almost all the time and condensation dripping down every window each morning.

The whole family had symptoms galore – I had two miscarriages, my battle with intractable weight gain began, my husband had terrible allergies and recurring sinus infections, everyone had constant colds and recurring strep throat. Every time we got sick the fevers were HIGH! We all had sleep issues ranging from insomnia to night frights.

We finally wrote a three-page letter to our landlord and moved out. Not many people knew about mold illness then. I had no idea then that we took the mold with us both inside our bodies and glued to our things, and that we could be living with worsening symptoms for years to come.

Lasting health problems plagued us.

We moved to Virginia in 2005. My welcoming committee was a tick. Lyme disease symptoms set in immediately with the bullseye rash, headache, and flu-like symptoms.

Since then, I’ve added trauma, financial difficulty, related health challenges, and the need to swim through a sea of information overload on the internet. I became certified through FDN along the way and began recovering quickly once I started addressing my root causes and strengthening my system.

It’s been 20 years since we moved to the Little Black Mold Box. I’ve waded through a lot of information and found the route to recovery. Let me show you the way.
